The Shetland Islands are a Scottish ‘chain’ of islands, which sit about 160 kilometres off the coast of the Scottish mainland. Sumburgh Airport (LSI) is the main airport of the Shetland Islands. It is located 31 kilometres south of the city of Lerwick. Flights to Aberdeen are the best alternative if you want to go to Sumburgh. The North link Ferries, leave at 7 pm and arriving at 7:30 am the next morning, straight to travellers to Lerwick, the largest Shetland Island. Due to the distance, it is recommended that you find an alternative flight to Sumburgh. Shetland is known for being a great place to enjoy nature. Shetland has plenty of Shetland ponies that run free on the island. Furthermore, the beaches on these islands are isolated and quite beautiful. In Lerwick, travellers can visit both the Shetland and Isleburgh museums.
