Rostock is the capital city of the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and is both located on the Warnow River and stretches to the coast of the Baltic Sea. Rostock is home to many beautiful brick Gothic-style buildings, the most notable of which are the Neuer Markt (New Market Square), dating back to the 13th Century, the well-preserved Kerkofhaus, and the Nikolaikirche- a church from the 13th Century that was mostly destroyed in the second World War, which is now restored and, because of its wonderful acoustics, is now being used at a concert and exhibition hall. Rostock-Lagge Airport (RLG) is the regional airport that offers low cost travel to the area. Low cost flights to Hamburg Lubeck Airport (LBC), only 102 km from Rostock-Lagge Airport, offer additional budget options for travellers that wish to fly into the area.
