Even though the population of Malmo is less than 300,000 it is still the third largest area in Sweden. Right on the southern coast of Sweden, Malmo is a place to visit if you want to see the sites of ‘real Sweden.’ The Malmöhus Castle is a prime example of this. From 1437 to the 1500s the building was lived in by the kings of Denmark. Today, the castle is one of the country’s finest museums. If you are travelling with small children, make sure you visit the Folkets park, which is an amusement park with free entry. Budget flights to Copenhagen can be obtained instead of Malmo Airport (MMX). However, you will need to cross the Oresund Bridge, which is the longest bridge in Europe. (which might be a burden or an attraction in itself depending on your point of view!) A standard car will pay roughly £35 to cross the bridge, so make sure you take this into account when trying to work out which flight is going to be the least expensive.
