Rodez [Rodés or Rhodez] is a southern France commune that acts as the capital of the Aveyron department. The Church of Saint-Amans, a 12th century church that features tapestries that date back to the 6th century as well as a Pieta from the 15th century and a Trinity statue from the 16th (which is one of Rodez most notable historical sites), along with two very good museums, the Historical and Archaeological Museum and the Musée Denys-Puech. Rodez Airport (RDZ) [also: Rodez-Marcillac Airport], a hub just 10 km from the centre of Rodez, offers plenty of low cost flight options to the area. Low cost Toulouse flights (TLS) are another good option to get into the area because it is situated just 124 from Rodez airport and connections are not hard to obtain.
