Centralwings Vanishes from the Skies

The Warsaw-based low-cost Polish airline founded in 2004 operated with 12 Boeing 737 aircraft, flew to 36 destinations and traded with the slogan “Pay less, expect more”. As a subsidiary of LOT Polish Airlines Centralwings competed in central Europe and operated scheduled services from eight Polish cities including Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan, Lodz and Gdansk, to major European destinations such as the UK and Ireland as well as destinations in the Mediterranean. After starting a scheduled service Centralwings later concentrated on mainly charter flights up until its cessation at the end of 2009. This may have been due to the increased competition in the UK from ultra-low-cost rivals Ryan Air and Wizz Air.

LOT Polish Airlines decided to shut down Centralwings due to reported unprofitability although other low-cost carriers will have now taken up the gap left in their previous routes and finding them can be easily done using a new interactive route finding tool. The new interactive tool by the Low Cost Airline Guide allows travellers to interactively interrogate various flight options simultaneously whilst staying on the same page using advanced technology. The tool can be found at www.low-cost-airline-guide.com.
